Making its debut this year, the Kuala Lumpur Literary Festival (KLLF) will be held from 11th to 13th November 2016.
With the theme “Letters of the Archipelago”, KLLF promises to be a platform to gather writers, readers, literary figures and arts practitioners for a robust exchange of ideas and knowledge that is informed by, and inspired from, literature in its many forms.
By holding up a mirror to society or presenting counter narratives that enrich our understanding of reality, literature pushes the boundaries of what is the ‘norm’ and what is ‘different.’ In this, literature is especially poised to address the theme of diversity. KLLF’s theme this year, “Letters of the Archipelago” will frame the discussion of literature as a platform to recognize differences through dimensions such as ethnicity, race, socio-economic status, beliefs and ideologies.
Featuring book launches, discussions, workshops and performances from established and emerging voices from Kuala Lumpur and beyond, KLLF promises to be a rich milieu of exchange, appreciation and understanding. In the diverse city of Kuala Lumpur, in the diverse country of Malaysia, KLLF will bring diversity and the literary arts into sharp relief.
The Festival programme will be updated periodically here. We look forward to seeing you at KLLF 2016!
